ANA lures UK travellers to Japan regions with free domestic flights
All Nippon Airways plans to attract more UK and European travellers to lesser-known corners of Japan with free domestic flights across its regional network.
This more affordable fare will be available from 24 November 2025 to 31 January 2026 as part of a joint campaign between ANA and the Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO).
The incentive aims to move visitors beyond the classic “hero gateway” cities, inspiring them to explore lesser-known regions, and see more of regional Japan.
The initiative is focused on the Stopover & Add-on Free Fare.
This enables customers and trade partners to build multi-stop itineraries, without charging extra for Economy Class stopovers.
The addition of the Stopover benefit on top of ANA’s existing Add-on Free Fare offer means that Economy Class passengers can now experience the metropolises of Tokyo or Kyoto and more off-the-radar destinations.
This can include Tohoku, the onsen towns of Kyushu, or the tropical islands of Okinawa at no additional fare.
The new free domestic flights offer underlines ANA and JNTO’s goal to drive more balanced tourist flows across Japan’s prefectures.
By offering free access to its 40+ hubs – Japan’s largest domestic network – ANA aims to make regional exploration easier and affordable.
It comes as Japan is experiencing record-breaking inbound tourism: in 2024, it welcomed 36.87 million international visitors.
Much of that demand remains concentrated on a handful of well-known cities.
While more than 90% of inbound travellers say they intend to visit regional areas, fewer than 10% have done so.
This is an opportunity to promote deeper, more sustainable engagement with Japan’s culturally diverse regions.
All Economy fare bookings made by 31 January 2026 are eligible, and up to two ANA domestic flights within Japan will be free of charge.
