Asia a strong performer for Wotif
SYDNEY – Wotif Group – parent company for travel websites in Asia, including Asia Web Direct’s accommodation booking websites Latestays.com and Smartstays.com – has reported a 31% increase in profit driven by strong accommodation sales growth and business acquisitions.
Asia continues to be a key market in our international growth strategy,†said Wotif spokeswoman, Kirsty Harrison.
Highlights of the annual results included:
– Room nights sold in Asia exceeded expectations during the reporting period, reaching 499,022, growing by over 176% since FY2007 (FY2007 room nights sold: 180,785).
– The total number of bookings for Asia in the year was 174,797 (FY2007: 71,383).
– Average room rate realised for rooms booked in the financial year was A$107.07 (FY2007: A$127.50).
Strong performance by the Wotif.com accommodation website, coupled with positive contributions from the two newly acquired businesses (travel.com.au and Asia Web Direct) have driven a 31% increase in group profits, the company reported.
The Wotif Group sold a record 4.91 million room nights across all its operations, delivering a 29% increase on last year.
This performance lifted total revenues to A$94 million (up 40% on last year).
