BA flight makes emergency landing at Heathrow
A British Airways flight from Paris was forced to make an emergency landing at London Heathrow after pilots smelled burning in the cockpit.
Flight BA327 from Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris landed shortly after 10.30pm last night due to ‘technical issues’ on board.
Passengers took to Twitter to praise the captain and crew for the way they handled the emergency.
They said pilots had put on oxygen masks after making a mayday call halfway through the 40-minute flight.
The Airbus A320 aircraft was met by fire engines when it landed at Heathrow but all passengers and crew disembarked safely.
Passenger Nerys Conway tweeted: "So scary Dan! Some technical problems and area of aircraft overheated. Landed with fire engines. BA327 crew were amazing.
She later added: "Many thanks to the incredible Captain and crew on British Airways flight no BA327. Your professional and calmness was an absolute credit."
Dave Luckett tweeted: "Just got back safe and sound after my first emergency landing on BA327. British Airways crew were very professional under pressure."
A spokeswoman for BA said: "Our Paris flight landed safely after our highly trained pilots took the precaution of requesting a priority landing due to a suspected technical problem. Safety is always our number one priority."
