The opening in late April of the 4-star Hotel & Spa Oceania Les Augustins in Lille, offers to visitors one of the most original accommodation in the regional capital of Northern France. The property occupies the former headquarters of the Scalbert-Du-Pont bank. The building constructed between 1928 and 1929 is a pure example of the Art Deco style. The hotel is ideally located, a few minutes walk, from both Lille rail stations.

The transformation of this iconic Lille architecture building into a 4-star Hotel & Spa represented a true challenge. Oceania Hotels worked to preserve and enhance the iconic elements of its Art Deco heritage. The hotel preserved its monumental hall, the glass roof, the marble staircase and the vault room. The project revealed the soul of the place by integrating hotel services, while preserving its architectural characteristics.

The Art Deco spirit still inspired the 87 hotel rooms flooded with natural light thanks to the bank majestic windows. Rooms are divided into 6 categories from the Comfort room to the Suite.

Les Augustins bar recreates the atmosphere of the bank. Located in the Lobby, it takes on a rounded shape that perfectly follows the contours of the glass roof. Its brass and green marble counter evokes the old ticket counters, while a large Salon Lounge-style space surrounds it, inviting guests to enjoy the moment in a relaxed atmosphere. Next to the bar, the restaurant gives a modern twist to Lille traditional brasserie-style dishes.

However, the masterpiece of the hotel is certainly its spa. A rare alliance between heritage and well-being, the pool at Spa Les Augustins is located in the former vault of the bank. The true signature of the establishment is an 8 x 4 meter deep blue stainless steel pool. Its unique design comes from the surrounding original safes, protected and highlighted behind a transparent casing. The space integrates 4 treatment and massage rooms, a sauna, and a fitness area.

The Oceania Les Augustins fully contributes to the enhancement of the historic heart of Lille thanks to its careful preservation and transformation.

First low-carbon hotel in the Lille metropolitan area

The Hotel & Spa Oceania Les Augustins is the first establishment in the Lille metropolitan area to obtain the low carbon label BBCA (Association for the Development of Low Carbon Buildings). It is among the first projects to integrate the “Lille Low Carbon” approach in renovation, with a comprehensive environmental framework. This approach resulted in several concrete actions:
• Optimization of the program within the existing volumes, at all stages of the project, from cleaning to the completion of the works;
• Use of bio-based insulation in the project, particularly made from flax grown in the region;
• Reuse of materials before demolition;
• Creation of a green wall and a patio garden.

The Oceania Les Augustins is consequently not only the first low-carbon hotel of the brand, but also the first of its kind in the region.

Originated from Brittany in Western France, Oceania Hotels currently has 31 establishments in 21 destinations across France. The group offers a total of almost 3,000 rooms.  Its newest properties are in Lille, Lyon and soon Paris 17th district.
