Beachgoers flee in panic during Florida beach shooting

A relaxing holiday weekend at Hollywood Beach, Florida turned to panic for dozens of beachgoers.
An argument quickly escalated into a beach shooting during the busy Memorial Day holiday.
It left nine people hospitalized, including a one-year-old baby plus three other children.
All are reported to be in stable condition and are expected to fully recover.
According to police and local authorities, the shooting unfolded during an argument on the Hollywood Beach Broadwalk.
The chaotic scene was captured on video, showing beachgoers fleeing for cover, some even seeking refuge in the sea.
Police and paramedics were quickly on the scene.
Police have apprehended one suspect in connection with the shooting and are actively seeking another individual.
In the wake of the shooting, Hollywood Mayor Josh Levy took to social media to express gratitude.
“Thank you to the good samaritans, paramedics, police and doctors and nurses for their immediate response,” he said.
“It’s unfortunate we have law-abiding citizens who come to our beaches and that gets interrupted by a group of criminals,” Police Chief Chris O’Brien said.
