Bedbank introduces “transparent” cancellation policy

Independent accommodation supplier Getabed.co.uk is implementing a new transparent cancellation policy from Thursday (April 29).
The company will only charge agents if a hotelier charges for cancellations – usually nothing unless within three days of travel.
Most other bedbanks apply an administration charge as well as the fee from the hotel, it claims.
Managing director Matt Stuart said: “We have had this in the pipeline for a few months, but since the chaos caused by the ash cloud and the closing of UK and European airspace the importance of allowing trade partners to have full transparency over cancellation charges has really hit home.
“The website will display what and when the hotel will charge for a cancellation prior to an agent making the booking with us, making it a totally transparent system.”
Also, the company is extending opening hours by an hour a day due to increased demand from agents for support.
From May 1, the office is open from 08.30 and will close at 18.30. The office will also be open on bank holidays between 10.00 and 16.00.
