British tourist dies on Great Barrier Reef
A British tourist has died on the Great Barrier Reef, the third person to die there this week.
The 60-year-old man was scuba diving at Agincourt Reef in Far North Queensland.
Two French tourists, a man and a woman, died earlier this week while snorkelling at Michaelmas Cay, 60km south and also in Far North Queensland.
Local reports suggested the man and woman, who were in their 70s, had suffered from cardiac arrests.
The cause of death of the British tourist is not yet known.
He was travelling with his wife and, according to local reports, was a certified diver who was on his second dive of the day.
He was on holiday with a tour operator called Quicksilver Cruises and was on a boat called Silversonic.
The alarm was raised when he was spotted without a regulator in his mouth on the ocean floor. He was pulled from the water and given CPR but did not survive.
