British Virgin Islands hails increase in Q1 tourist arrivals

The British Virgin Islands kicked off 2025 with an increase in tourist arrivals during the first quarter.

It recorded 106,750 overnight visitor arrivals in the first quarter, up 6.4% on 2024, according to the Central Statistics Office.

In March alone, the territory welcomed 40,569 overnight guests, marking the first time since 2017 that monthly overnight arrivals have surpassed 40,000.

In addition to overnight stay growth, day-tripper arrivals surged by 60%, reaching 5,799 during the quarter.

“We are continuing the upward momentum we experienced in 2024, when we welcomed over one million total visitors for the first time since 2016,” said Clive McCoy, Director of Tourism.

“Overnight stays are a key indicator of the health of our tourism industry, benefiting both land-based and marine accommodations and driving economic activity.”

While cruise visitor arrivals dipped slightly by 2.5%, the overall impact on total arrivals was minimal, it says.

The British Virgin Islands is an archipelago of 60 islands situated just east of Puerto Rico.
