Budget 2007 – Tourism Australia secures funding
Tourism Budget Highlights
The tourism industry can breathe a little easier in the knowledge that the 10-year strategy launched by Prime Minister John Howard in 2003 as the Tourism White Paper has received further funding. The strategy detailed in the paper aims to make Australian tourism more competitive on the world stage.
A platform for viewing the Sunrise at Uluru (The Mole has visions of the Sunrise Breakfast TV team wanting to present their own ‘sunrise’ at Uluru at the opening ceremony!) is being funded to the tune of $15 million.
$30 million has also been allocated to clean the waters around the Great Barrier Reef and improve water quality, $21 million for the Antartic programme and $22 million on other heritage programs.
