Canadian LCC Flair Airlines acquiring 13 Boeing Max jets
Following Canada’s decision to clear the Boeing Max to fly again, low cost carrier Flair Airlines is adding the Max to its growing fleet.
It will lease 13 Boeing Max 8 jets as it seeks to grow its network across Canada and expand low fare options to new destinations.
It is leasing the planes from 777 Partners.
"Our efficient new aircraft will provide us the foundation to execute our ULCC business model. These planes will enable us to keep fares low while expanding our service to meet travel demand," said airline President Stephen Jones.
The jets can accommodate 189 passengers.
It will start taking delivery of the new aircraft this year.
"The days of limited choices and frustration with high fares from legacy carriers are gone. Flair and ultra low-cost travel is here to stay," Jones said.
The addition of the 737 Max to its fleet will allow Flair to achieve the lowest cost per seat mile of any Canadian airline, it says.
It will also cut CO2 emissions by 14%.
