Consumer group Which? Holiday has urged the Government to act by extending the ATOL passenger protection scheme to scheduled flights.
Following the news that the Parliamentary Transport Committee has recommended ATOL protection on all flights from the UK (See previous TravelMole story),Which? Holidayhead of researchRochelle Turner said: “While booking flights separately to accommodation gives people more flexibility, it lacks the financial protection that many consumers want.
“Providing ATOL protection on all non-domestic flights will give passengers the reassurance that they, and their money, are protected should something go wrong.
“We are pleased that the Parliamentary Transport Committee share this view, and urge the Government to take forward its recommendations.”
