Cosmos adopts dynamic packaging technology
Cosmos has enhanced its reservations capability to allow the operator to dynamically package.
The operator has struck a dynamic packaging deal with Bluesky Travel Systems to add its itour booking technology.
Cosmos claims to have made “substantial investment” in the browser-based system to enable it to dynamically package content delivered by its in-house reservation system Cosnet.
Commercial director Stuart Jackson said: “The itour system will enable Cosmos to dynamically package its own inventory as well as that of third parties, low cost airlines, ancillaries and bed banks. Itour is a single system that can dynamically package everything that a holidaymaker is now demanding – from booking a golf tee-off time to an upgraded airline seat to car hire – all within one transaction.
“The major advantage for agents is that they can rest assured that their booking is fully protected via the Cosmos ATOL bond.”
BlueSky managing director Steve Driscoll said: “Itour has been developed in response to a growing demand within the travel industry for a modern reservations system based on a scaleable technology.
“Existing old legacy systems in use within the travel industry cannot offer the flexibility and responsiveness demanded by today’s tour operators. Itour is based on leading Oracle technology which is scaleable and delivers powerful performance.
“Itours’ inherently flexible design and continuing development allows us to offer tour operators a single system with options through which their customers can ‘search and book’ own or third party inventory over multiple durations and destinations, which can be pre-packaged, tailored or dynamically packaged.”
Mark Warner and parts of First Choice have already adopted the Blue Sky system.
