Crystal Endeavor launch delayed
Crystal Cruises has pushed back the launch of its luxury expedition ship, Crystal Endeavor, until the fall.
Endeavor was due to launch this summer but a temporary closure of the MV Werften shipyard has led to work on the ship grinding to a halt.
The maiden voyage will now be a 14-nnight ‘Tasmania & Fjords of New Zealand’ sailing in mid-November 2020.
All previous scheduled sailings have been cancelled.
Crystal is reaching out to customers and travel advisors about rebooking options.
"While this unprecedented global health crisis inhibits our journeys for now, we are looking ahead with great optimism to introducing Crystal Endeavor to the world on November 14," said Crystal president and CEO Tom Wolber.
The 200-passenger expedition ship is being built to cruise polar regions and will feature off-ship exploration by Zodiacs, kayaks, a submersible and by helicopter.
