Cuban tourism outlook sunny with some clouds
Despite being deprived for decades of the enormous American market, Cuba is one of the Caribbean’s strongest performers, says Research and Markets.
“The capital, Havana, projects the familiar Cuban images of elegantly wasted colonial streets, patrolled by 1950s finned Cadillacs to the beat of a bustling nightlife,” said the company.
“The outlook for its travel industry appears extremely bright and, depending upon political developments, possibly outstanding,” said Research and Markets, which prepares reports on tourism prospects for various markets.
The company predicts that the relaxation of the current American trade ban is on the horizon, “drawing inexorably closer.”
“This will radically energise the coffers of an already lucrative tourism business, but whether or not Cuba’s unique and perfectly preserved identity can survive the influx is far less certain,” concluded the report.
Cuba is the largest of the Caribbean islands.
