Cure for meeting stress: yoga

Saturday, 15 Mar, 2007 0

The Hotel Derek in Houston says it is aiming to alleviate the stress of business meetings by offering complimentary yoga breaks.

A local yoga practitioner and wellness consultant this month started  conducting free 10 to 15 minute “stress breaks” which include basic breathing and stretching exercises designed to give meeting attendees an energy boost during what are typically sedentary occasions.

In response to meeting planners’ complaints about leaving behind all their office equipment when traveling, the hotel also has created the “Derek Desk To-Go,” which features a Dell desktop computer with a 19-inch monitor along with a printer and a digital camera.

The new amenities are designed to showcase the hotel’s newly redesigned meeting facilities. Featuring more than 10,000 square feet of event space, the hotel can handle groups from 10 to 500.

The Hotel has 314 guestrooms, including 10 suites, eight studio rooms and six business lofts.
