Easyjet carryings soar
EasyJet saw passenger numbers rise by almost 24% in the last year to almost 27 million.
The carryings for the 12 months to March 2005 compared with 21.8 million passengers in the year to March 2004.
The no-frills airline’s load factor remained almost static at 84.6% while revenues rose from £999 million to £1.2 billion.
Statistics for last month show easyJet’s carryings increase by almost 29% to 2.57 million with an imporved load factor of 91.2% against the same month last year.
The figures emerged as the airline added three new routes from Bristol airport to Inverness, Murcia and Pisa with daily flights from July 7.
An extra aircraft is to be based in Bristol, increasing the fleet to eight, operating to 22 destinations. The airline expects to fly 2.4 million passengers from the South West airport in the next 12 months.
Fares start at £30.98 return, including taxes, to Inverness and £40.98 to Murcia and Pisa.
