EasyJet increased its year on year passenger traffic by 4% last month, but in the same period Ryanair’s passenger numbers fell 1%.
In January, easyJet carried 3.88 million passengers, increasing its load factor by 2.4 percentage points to 84.4%.
Ryanair carried 4.35 million passengers in January, 50,000 fewer than in January 2012. It had previously warned numbers would fall due to its decision to ground up to 80 aircraft post Christmas. Its load factor for the month remained constant at 71%.
