Easyjet second most ‘Googled’ word
The importance of pay-per-click advertising has been highlighted by recent figures exposing the popularity of using search engines to find travel products.
According to internet monitors Hitwise, Google UK is the most popular search engine in the UK with a 48% market share of visits during February. Second was MSN.co.uk search with 8.6% share of visits and third was AskJeeves with a 7% share.
While shopping remains a popular category of searches alongside computers and internet, 8.7% of traffic from Google.co.uk went to travel websites in February, a Hitwise spokeswoman told TravelMole.com.
The most searched for website on Google after “ebay” was “easyjet”, during February. Other travel keywords in the top 50 search terms on Google in February were: “ryanair”, “cheap flights”, “british airways”, “expedia”, “flights”, “holidays”, “flybe” and “travel insurance”.
