easyJet’s expands Italian routes with new Gatwick – Pisa service

Thursday, 15 May, 2007 0

Europe’s leading low-fares airline, easyJet, launched the first of two new Italian routes from its largest base, London Gatwick Airport on April 3. The daily service to the city of Pisa is available from just £24.99 (US$49.47) one way (£42.98 or US$85.08 return including taxes).

Gatwick is now the airline’s main gateway to Italy with a choice of six airports; Milan (both Malpensa and Linate), Olbia, Pisa, Rome and Venice, soon to increase to seven with the introduction of  a  route to Palermo, Sicily on July 4, 2007.

Located in Western Tuscany, Pisa is known throughout the world for its famous Leaning Tower, but there is more to Pisa than just this landmark. A city full of historical monuments and architecture dating back hundreds of years, Pisa retains much of its medieval appearance.  It is a perfect city break destination or starting point for exploring the regions of Tuscany and Florence.

Paul Cable, UK Market Manager said:  “Italy is fast becoming one of the favourite European destinations for Brits, the addition of Pisa and Palermo later this summer means easyJet will operate to a choice of 10 Italian airports from across the UK, seven of which are served from Gatwick.  The demand for services to Pisa and the Tuscany region is clear as sales are strong and the airline expects to carry more than 100,000 passengers on this route in the first 12 months.”
