El Questro re-opening delayed
Voyages El Questro Wilderness Park and Homestead will not re-open until April 11 due to heavy rainfall throughout The Kimberley region in North Western Australia.
According to General Manager David Henry, recent heavy rains have closed the Gibb River Road and delayed the iconic property’s re-opening date.
“We have received approximately 5 times the average rainfall for the month of March,” David said. “Critical re-opening supplies are stuck in Kununurra because the Gibb River Road is impassable.”
Voyages have waived cancellation fees for the period, and staff will be in contact with affected bookings to alert them of the delayed re-opening.
The delay also affects the new look Emma Gorge Resort, following Cyclone Ingrid’s impact at the same time last year. Voyages have worked tirelessly to re-build Emma Gorge Resort, introducing new amenities such as en suite facilities in each tent.
“It’s disappointing that we couldn’t re-open as planned on April 1, but when you operate in spectacular wilderness locations like The Kimberley and tropical north, you have to respect Mother Nature and have contingencies plans in place for situations like the one we face now,” said David.
