Experience pays off for home working agency
Homeworking travel agency Travel Counsellors claims to be attracting experienced staff away from high street branches.
Research by the Bolton-based company found that its agents have an average of 18 years travel experience, with more than 60% having formerly held managerial positions in high street agencies.
The staff poll showed that almost half of its 430 agents were managers while a further 13.3% previously held the post of deputy manager or equivalent.
The company also claimed that more than 78% rated their job satisfaction as “high” or “very high” in contrast to a recent industry survey of 400 agents by Fox Kalomaski which showed that almost 70% would consider taking a better paid job outside the trade.
Founder and chairman David Speakman said: ” We attract the cream of the industry because we offer experienced agents a chance to earn much more than they could on the high street.
“they are professionals who take a real pride in their work and they have to becasue they can’t rely on somebody walking in off the high street to get a booking. Their entire business is built on receiving repeat business and recommendations.”
