Tourists can now experience the sights of London on the run!
London Sightseeing Runs has launched the city’s first guided sightseeing runs. The company offers both group and one-to-one running tours accompanied by a qualified fitness trainer. The runs offer clients the unique chance to keep fit whilst learning about landmark monuments as well as hidden beauty spots of the capital.
There are five set routes covering the main sights of London:
- Riverview Run – Run along the famous River Thames from the Houses of Parliament, along the South Bank and down to the Tower of London
- Royal Parks – See Kensington Palace and the Mall whilst running through the green spaces of West London
- London Canals – Explore London’s best-kept secret. The beautiful canal ways cut through some of the most exclusive neighbourhoods of the city; Regent’s Park and Little Venice
- Maritime Greenwich – Run up to the Observatory over the Meridian line and see the Millennium Dome
- Historic East End – Run the streets that Jack the Ripper used to prowl and see London’s alternative arts scene centered around the magnificent Spitalfield’s Market
The runs take place at times that are convenient for everyone taking place seven days a week at 7am, 10am, 3pm and 7pm, lasting around an hour. All the trained guides are friendly and enthusiastic; offering fascinating historical facts and quirky details about London along with fitness tips that will help you achieve runners fitness goals.
Visitors to London will particularly enjoy the river run which takes in all of London’s iconic monuments; the London Eye, Big Ben, The Tower of London and Tate Modern. These tours aren’t just for tourists, other runs though the East End and the parks and canals at the heart of the capital will appeal to Londoners and day-trippers looking for a great way to exercise and socialise. The group tours offer busy people time out of the hotel and work environment and the opportunity to meet new people as well as being a safe way to see the city without getting lost.
London Sightseeing Runs is part of a global network "Global Running Tours" a worldwide organisation that gathers together all of the companies that offer Guided Running Tours around the world. This is the latest way for active travellers to discover and learn about cities, while exercising with a local runner.
London Sightseeing Runs founder is entrepreneur Jo Geraghty. A keen runner herself, Jo’s travel inspired her to found a scheme she had experienced in other world cities: “Whenever I’ve travelled to other cities on business I found it difficult to squeeze in a visit to the sights. Usually all I got to see were meeting rooms and airports”
However, after I discovered guided running tours I was hooked and I joined them whenever I was sent away on business. I was so surprised to find out that London didn’t have its own guided running tours, so we launched London Sightseeing Runs to showcase our beautiful city to visitors and Londoners alike.”
