Extra trains set to prevent WTM transport chaos

Wednesday, 29 Oct, 2010 0

Getting to and from World Travel Market might not be so stressful this year thanks to more frequent trains on the Docklands Light Railway.

In past years, particularly in 2008, many delegates and visitors faced chaotic journeys into and out of the London Excel site due to overcrowding, service disruptions and lack of directions from transport staff.

However, the DLR is set to increase the frequency of trains to every two minutes 30 seconds during peak times of WTM 2010.

This means there will be as many as 24 trains an hour serving ExCeL during the busiest times, an extra four trains an hour compared to last year.

Furthermore, Transport for London will continue with its problem solving Travel Hub at Canning Town Station introduced last year.

The ‘Hub’ assesses the wider issues on the transport network which may affect routes to and from the event and advises visitors accordingly.
