Fiji Airways announced as official airline partner of Singapore Rugby Sevens

Fiji Airways has signed up as official airline partner for the HSBC World Rugby Singapore Sevens.

It is a timely partnership as Fiji Airways launches its new Singapore service just days before the tournament kicks off on April 16.

The carrier launches its maiden flight to Singapore on April 5 and said up to 1,000 Fijian fans are expected to make the trip to attend Singapore Sevens’ games.

The three-year sponsorship deal includes community outreach with the Fijian team conducting rugby clinics after the tournament finishes.

"This is an exciting partnership and there are lots of promising opportunities that will benefit local rugby. Starting from early April, Fiji rugby fans can now fly direct from Nadi International Airport to Singapore and this is definitely a boost for our sports tourism," said Singapore Rugby Union president Low Teo Ping.

Fiji Airways CEO Andre Viljoen said: "We look forward to bringing our fellow Fijians here to experience not just top class Sevens, but also some of the world’s best shopping, dining and entertainment."
