Five Britons hurt in Prague explosion
Five British tourists are reported to be among 18 people injured in a grenade explosion in Prague.
The blast took place outside a casino in the city’s Wenceslas Square on Sunday after a grenade was thrown from a car; none of the injuries are thought to be life-threatening but several were seriously hurt.
Czech authorities have stated that the explosion was not connected to terrorism; rather, The Independent reports, a “turf-war” between rival gangsters.
The newspaper reports that the targeted casino was the Casino Royal, owned by an Israeli accused of connections to the criminal underworld.
Those injured, who also included American and Irish tourists, were reportedly sitting in an open-air eating section when the explosion took place.
