Getaways: speeding up

Monday, 25 May, 2004 0

A new national survey shows Americans are more likely than ever to take weekend getaways.

The Enterprise Rent-A-Car American Weekend Getaway Poll found:

• Three in five or 60% of US motorists, or more than 100 million Americans, have taken a driving weekend getaway in the past year.

• The average number of those taking weekend getaways is seven annual trips.

• Four in five or 80% of motorists prefer shorter trips over longer vacations.

The most popular places for weekend trips are the beach, national or state parks, and lake or river resorts.
