Greening Events Summit Set For London – April
Greenbiz has announced the line up for its Greening Events Summit set for Excel on 28th April. The summit is to include case studies and presentations with participation from London 2012, Live Earth, Hilton International, Carbon Disclosure Project, IPSOS, BSI, Arup, Excel, Olympia and Earls Court.
Said organiser Ben Patten “The event has two main purposes. The first is to look at what will happen to an entirely reactive industry – what Climate Change and policy responses (and customer choices) will mean for the industry. The second is to look at how we might all adopt more sustainable practices. There’s also going to be a brief look at the role technology plays in the future of our industry – I imagine it will be massive over the next few years. In particular it will be great to have Tom Feegel on a live link from the States – he was Chief of staff for Live Earth and should have many pearls of wisdom to share. It will also be very interesting to hear from 2012. There are many other contributors who are up to their elbows in all these issues – they all have much to pass on.â€
“We hope it will be a really good chance for people to exchange ideas, help clarify their agenda and properly consider the strategic implications. And find some new ways of doing things. Participants – 200 odd – will be a mixture of big events, venues, in-house event teams, event agencies and supplier organisations.â€
Presenters include Bill Sneyd, Director of Advisory Services – The Carbon Neutral Company, Paul Dickinson, CEO – Carbon Disclosure Project, James Musgrave, Senior Lecturer – Leeds Metropolitan, UK Centre for Events, James Mark, Group Head of Events Management – ExCel, Hugo Kimber, Chief Executive – The Carbon Consultancy, Aileen Reuter, Marketing Director, Maritz and Eventia Board Director Tim Sunderland .
“We hope the event will help people understand the true scale of the challenge and give them some pointers. I also hope it helps those putting standards and sustainability initiatives together to understand the industry†Concluded Mr Patten
