Hiker confirmed among 16 dead after Lombok earthquake
More than 540 hikers who were stranded on a mountain on the Indonesian island of Lombok after a powerful earthquake, which killed at least 16 people including one of the climbers, have been evacuated.
Most of them were able to walk down after rescue workers identified a safe passage, but some were flown out by helicopter, according to the BBC.
Rescue workers are still waiting to recover the body of an Indonesian hiker who was killed by falling rocks.
A Malaysian tourist was also among those who died when the 6.4 magnitude earthquake struck on Sunday, triggering landslides around Mount Rinjani and injuring more than 330.
The earthquake has left hundreds of homeless in Lombok. Temporary camps have been set up amid continuing aftershocks.
