HK Disneyland announces price increases
Hong Kong Disneyland has announced across-the-board ticket price rises for park admission with immediate effect.
This is the second big rise in as many years with new admission fees rising by as much as 16%.
A one-day adult ticket for people aged 12 to 64 will increase by 10.8% to HK$499, and children’s admission goes up a similar rate to HK$355.
The biggest price jump is for adult two-day tickets up by a whopping 16.2% to HK$680, following a 17.2% increase last year.
"The resort evaluates and adjusts pricing based on a variety of factors including the value of the resort’s attractions and entertainment offerings as well as future development needs," a Disney spokesman said.
The resort is offering a temporary price reprieve for Hong Kong residents, travel agents and travel wholesalers who can buy tickets at the previous prices until January 10.
The Hong Kong Travel Profession Union responded to the price increases saying it will likely put off some mainland tourists from visiting the park.
Mainland Chinese tourists make up 47% of all visitors to the park, a union spokesman said.
