Holiday Extras slammed by advertising watchdog
Holiday Extras has been slammed by the advertising watchdog for a ‘misleading’ ad claiming customers can save 60% by pre-booking car parking.
A complaint was received after the holiday firm sent an email saying ‘book your airport parking early to save up to 60% on the price you’d pay on the day’.
The Advertising Standards Authority said at five airports where gate prices could be compared with Holiday Extra’s rate, no customers had saved 60% or more.
However it acknowledged that, as a whole, 17% of all Holiday Extras customers, in the period covered, had saved 60% or more.
Holiday Extras said it did not claim that customers could save up to 60% at all airports; rather, they offered a booking service through which customers could save up to 60%.
It added that the company had been making the advertising claim, or versions of it, for at least 15 years, and had not previously received any complaints.
The ASA banned the advert from reappearing in its current form.
