Hoseasons parent snaps up privately-owned Cumbrian business
Wyndham Vacation Rentals, the parent of The Hoseasons Group, has acquired Cumbrian Cottages for an undisclosed sum.
It says all 70 staff at Cumbrian Cottages will be retained but managing director Peter Durbin will leave.
Privately-owned Cumbrian Cottages has a portfolio of 2,500 self-catering holiday homes in Cumbria and The Lake District, Northumberland, Yorkshire, Derbyshire, Wales and Scotland.
A spokesman for Hoseasons said it plans to grow the Cumbrian business.
"The plan is to evaluate how they can work alongside Hoseasons existing national brands – cottages4you, English Country Cottages, Hoseasons Cottages etc – to create a clear proposition for customers and owners alike and maximise their strengths," he said.
He said the Cumbrian properties will be added to the Hoseasons portfolio and will become available to the trade "over time".
Cumbrian Cottages has six offices in Ilkley, Carlisle, Windermere, Keswick, Leyburn and Whitby.
"These offices are a key feature of the business that distinguishes itself from other competitors and existing parts of Hoseasons’ cottage business, with a lot of experience coming from the staff in those locations.
"The plan is to retain that as much as possible, to help the business grow and develop."
