Hotel guests secretly filmed and live-streamed online

Another secret filming scandal has rocked South Korea.

Police said they made four arrests in a hidden camera scandal that targeted 30 hotels across South Korea.

They say at least two men secretly filmed up to 1,600 hotel guests and streamed the footage live online.

They allegedly set up hidden cameras in 42 rooms at 30 hotels in several South Korea cities.

Sophisticated mini-cameras were discovered which had made more than 800 illegally filmed videos between November to March.

The suspects reportedly made about $6,200 from dozens of people who paid monthly subscriptions to watch the footage, the Korea Herald reported.

Police said there is no evidence so far that any of the hotels were aware of the illegal filming.

The men could face up to five years in prison and a large fine if charged and found guilty.

"The police agency strictly deals with criminals who post and share illegal videos as they severely harm human dignity," a police official said.
