Hydrogen-powered flights to London by 2028
A consortium of over a dozen Dutch companies and research groups say they will have a hydrogen-powered plane ready to fly to London by 2028. The Hydrogen Aircraft Powertrain and Storage System (HAPSS)is being funded by €100 million from the Netherlands government.
The consortium includes Fokker. It will convert existing medium-sized propeller planes to hydrogen and says it is commercially viable for flights of up 80 passengers.
However they the ticket cost for hydrogen-powered flights would-be about 0% more expensive.
