Ibiza icon Cafe Del Mar coming to Bali
Ibiza’s legendary sunset hangout Café Del Mar is planting its flag on the Island of the Gods.
Bali becomes the first outpost in Southeast Asia for Café Del Mar which is slated to soft launch in August, followed by an official launch party over the October long weekend.
It plans to make waves in the surfer’s haven of Canggu with an expansive beachfront building inspired by the original design of Café del Mar Ibiza. It is set to feature a large pool, private VIP cabanas, an upscale restaurant, all-day casual dining, and multiple bars.
It will serve up creative cocktails alongside a Mediterranean-inspired menu enriched with local Indonesian favourites for lunch, sunset snacks and late night dining.
"Bali is the perfect location for Café del Mar. With international tourist numbers increasing year-on-year, the island is set to become ‘the new Ibiza’ with a growing market for music-based events," said Café del Mar Australasia CEO John Zappia.
Founded in 1980 in Sant Antoni de Portmany on the Spanish island of Ibiza, Café del Mar spawned a new beach club lifestyle as well as its own music genre which still endures today.
It has since expanded globally with 15 venues around the world, with upcoming launches in the Maldives and Bangkok.
