Iglu website overhaul
Cruise and ski specialist Iglu.com has overhauled its entire website with the aim of making it more user-friendly.
The OTA is also planning to implement a voice search function, allowing customers with digital home assistants, such as Amazon’s Echo device, to ask questions or find holidays using a voice search.
For example, the customer will be able to tell their device to ‘find a cruise to the Caribbean’ and, following the upgrade, Iglu’s site will be more likely to be found.
Iglu is also installing a series of tools to specify the meanings on the website to enhance the search capability, allowing search engines to differentiate between words and their meanings and thus deliver a more relevant search result for the consumer, said a spokeswoman.
The OTA said the decision to upgrade the Iglu.com website comes after a ‘hugely’ successful year for the Iglu ski site following its total redesign last year.
Improvements to igluski.com include a more responsive design that can automatically adapt its display to fit any size device, and enhanced search logic.
As a result, Iglu Ski said it has seen the number of customers connecting from a mobile device rise 57% year on year and tablet traffic is up by 16%.
The total traffic for the Iglu Ski desktop website has gone up by 20% year on year.
Iglu also merged its dedicated Lapland website onto Igluski.com in August, leading to a 1,100% increase in enquiries.
