IHG celebrates 1,000th hotel in EMEAA with opening in Phu Quoc
InterContinental Hotels Group has chalked up an impressive new milestone with the opening of InterContinental Phu Quoc Long Beach Resort, in Vietnam.
It becomes its 1000th hotel open in the Europe, Middle East, Asia and Africa (EMEAA) region.
The region is home to eight IHG brands and the company works with more than 500 hotel owners.
There are an additional 321 hotels comprising more than 63,500 rooms in the pipeline in EMEAA which are due to come online within the next five years.
"Reaching 1,000 open hotels in the region with the addition of InterContinental Phu Quoc Long Beach Resort is a significant achievement for IHG. Our Europe, Middle East, Asia and Africa (EMEAA) region encompasses 71 countries, 26 time zones and some of the world’s most visited cities," said Kenneth Macpherson, IHG’s CEO for Europe, Middle East, Asia and Africa.
"This milestone is testament to the appeal of our brands, the strength of our owner relationships and our well-established strategy to leverage scale and accelerate growth."
InterContinental Phu Quoc Long Beach Resort is located on the beachfront with 459 rooms, suites and villas.
It features six restaurants and bars and meeting facilities.
Offshore island Phu Quoc is an UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve, and is one of Southeast Asia’s fastest growing tourist destinations.
