Intrepid offers Machu Picchu deal

Intrepid Travel says it is the first global tour operator to offer a guarantee on Inca Trail Permits, with the guarantee applying to all of its 40 itineraries that include Machu Picchu.

In the event that Intrepid is unable to obtain a permit for the dates travellers wish to travel (and no tour operator is able to pre-purchase or bulk purchase Inca Trail permits), it will offer compensation by way of a $100 discount off any itinerary featuring its new Inca Quarry Trail trek.

“This is good news for travellers who are wanting to travel to Peru to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the rediscovery of Machu Picchu this July.” said James Thornton, Intrepid Travel general manager, Global Sales.

The Intrepid Quarry Trail takes travellers on a 23km three-day trek through lesser-known Inca archaeological sites and offers travellers the chance to interact with local communities along the way.

This trek will be part of several of Intrepid’s Peru itineraries.

The Peruvian Government is planning a month of celebrations, culminating in the 100th anniversary of Hiram Bingham’s re-discovery of Machu Picchu on July 24.

“Intrepid Travel has a strong presence in Peru and it is because of this that we are able to offer this guarantee on our Inca Trail Permits,” said Thornton.
