It all looked good in the pictures
HELSINKI – We’re used to hotels boasting about the number and quality of their rooms and facilities, but in Helsinki a one-room hotel has opened to much applause.
Situated in the bohemian Kallio neighborhood of Finland’s capital city, the Hotel Room facilities are made up of one fully furnished 30sqm room with a kitchen, shower and funky vintage interior.
“We think that hotel rooms can often be small and uninteresting and are occupied by nondescript “suitsâ€. But our guests have been so great that we want to open the second room in Berlin soonâ€, says Iina Merikallio, one of the four co-founders of the Hotel Room.
A room for up to two people with free WiFi, a TV and complimentary breakfast on the first morning starts at 120 euros per night.
Longer stays are entitled to discounts, with a six-night stay costing as little as 65 euros per night.
