It’s festival season in the Alps
It’s almost spring and that can only mean one thing, it’s festival season in the Alps! Here’s a round-up of some of the best events taking place in ski resorts over the next few weeks:
Chamonix Unlimited is an electronic music festival, which is really just an excuse for six days of partying in this lofty French resort. Starting on April 2, the festival attracts a wide range of artists playing across several venues at the foot of Mont Blanc.
Snowbombing returns to Mayrhofen in Austria from April 8 to 13, attracting top music acts including Craig David, Rudimental and Jax Jones. Now in its 20th year, organisers are promising the festival will be "stronger, sexier, sturdier and downright sillier than ever". Events include pop-up butcher’s shop parties, igloo raves and Austria’s largest fancy dress street party.
Caprices Festival at Crans Montana in Switzerland kicks off on April 11 and brings more electronic, house and techno music to the Alps. This year’s line-up includes big names such as Sven Vath and Ricardo Villalobos, both playing on the iconic MDRNTY mountain-top stage.
US rock legend Lenny Kravitz will close the ski season in the Austria resort of Ischgl with a gig at the top of the mountain on April 30.
