JetBlue offers in-flight ebooks with Fly-Fi Hub
JetBlue is partnering with book publisher HarperCollins to offer flyers a selection of bestselling e-book titles as part of its upcoming Fly-Fi content platform.
Sarting from tomorrow, November 26, customers on JetBlue planes equipped with the in-flight Wi-Fi system Fly-Fi, will be able to read samples from over twenty bestselling books.
Each e-sampler will include a buy button for customers to purchase from a choice of e-book retailers.
Bestselling titles available aboard flights include books by Anthony Bourdain, Patti Smith, Paulo Coelho, and Patricia Cornwell, and titles will change each month.
"An integral part of making our Fly-Fi Hub attractive to our customers is working with world-leading content providers such as HarperCollins and joining forces to offer some of their superior media content onboard," said Jamie Perry, director of product development, JetBlue.
Angela Tribelli, chief marketing officer, HarperCollins said: "This is a terrific opportunity for travelers to enjoy some of the best books of the year during the busy, and oftentimes stressful, holiday travel period. We, like JetBlue, are committed to being at the forefront of our industry, so collaborating with them on this innovative consumer experience was a natural fit."
All HarperCollins content will be accessible for free on the Fly-Fi Hub service which has been installed on 35% of the JetBlue fleet.
JetBlue has also partnered with Fox and National Geographic for TV content, e-learning videos from Coursera and Rouxbe and magazines from Time Inc.
The airline also said more content from PBS, Random House and the Wall Street Journal will be added in early 2015.
