Need a little help and advice on how to sail through the tail end of the recession?
WTM is offering the services of business tsar Lord Digby Jones at this year’s Excel event on November 11.
Lord Jones will be discussing how SMEs can survive the downturn and will be joined by a panel of business experts, including ex-Hoseasons chief executive Richard Carrick, Travel Counsellors managing director Steve Byrne and getabed.co.uk’s managing director Matt Stuart.
Lord Jones has held posts as distinguished as director general of the Confederation of British Industry and the UK Skills Envoy before becoming minister of state for UK trade and investment.
Chairman of World Travel Market Fiona Jeffery said: “Experts are predicting that up to 20 travel companies will go to the wall by the end of the year in the UK alone – far more than usual – with three going bust in just one month this summer.
"As we face the challenges of the future for SMEs in the UK and Europe, it is essential that we do everything possible to help travel companies address the problems, maintain market share and bottom line. We have brought together first rate business speakers whose advice and guidance is much valued."
