Mandarin Oriental arrives in Mallorca and Amsterdam in early 2026

Mandarin Oriental is strengthening its presence around the Mediterranean Sea this spring with the opening of Mandarin Oriental Punta Negra, Mallorca, Spain.

The new luxury resort rises above the sea in Calvià, near the upscale marina of Puerto Portals, occupying a prized stretch of coastline long regarded as one of the island’s most scenic locations.

Surrounded by Aleppo pines and dramatic rocky shores, the resort offers sweeping views of the Mediterranean and direct access to two secluded coves. Designed as an intimate coastal retreat, Mandarin Oriental Punta Negra features 131 rooms and suites in a contemporary style, extensive leisure facilities, a full-service wellness sanctuary, and a collection of curated guest experiences rooted in Mallorcan culture.

Perched on the iconic Punta Negra, the resort draws deeply from the island’s timeless spirit,” said General Manager Duarte Correia. “Every element reflects Mallorca’s landscapes, artisan traditions, and the warmth of its people, blending natural beauty with understated contemporary luxury.

The interiors reflect that philosophy, pairing clean, modern lines with materials inspired by the island. Hand-placed local stonework, natural textures, and a palette of soft neutral tones are used throughout, while light and shadow frame uninterrupted sea views. Of the 131 accommodations, 26 are suites, including nine private casitas (villas). Several rooms and suites feature plunge pools, while three rooftop suites offer private pools and elevated views designed for maximum privacy.

Art plays a central role in the resort’s aesthetic. Carefully selected works by local and international artists appear in guestrooms and public areas, with outdoor installations turning gardens and terraces into open-air galleries.

Dining is positioned as a major draw. The resort will debut Nobu Matsuhisa’s acclaimed Nikkei-style restaurant, alongside Leña by Dani García, a contemporary steakhouse centered on fire-driven cooking. Additional venues include Jacinta, serving modern Mexican cuisine; Leppoc, an all-day Mediterranean and Levantine restaurant with a garden bar; Sobretaula, an alfresco tapas terrace; and Aubara, a relaxed poolside restaurant and bar.

Executive Chef Sergio De La Plata said the culinary approach emphasizes local sourcing and storytelling. “Each dish reflects the product, the producer, and the landscape,” he noted.

Wellness offerings include a seaside spa with nine treatment rooms, signature therapies inspired by local traditions, indoor and outdoor pools, a fitness center, and hydrothermal facilities. Together, they position Mandarin Oriental Punta Negra as a refined new benchmark for luxury hospitality in Mallorca.

Mandarin Oriental present in Amsterdam following take-over

In another development, the Conservatorium Hotel became officially on January 14, 2026 the Mandarin Oriental Conservatorium, Amsterdam, under the management of Mandarin Oriental.

Mandarin Oriental embraces the heritage of the Conservatorium Hotel while introducing considered updates to enhance the guest experience. The lounge will be refreshed with a new design. Guest rooms and suites will also be upgraded in phases, starting with the Deluxe Rooms.

In early 2026, internationally renowned chef, restaurateur and author Yotam Ottolenghi will finally open his first restaurant in the Netherlands at Mandarin Oriental Conservatorium. Inspired by Ottolenghi’s ROVI restaurant in London, the new destination will feature a vegetable-led menu with colorful sharing plates. Further details are to be announced in the first quarter of 2026.
