Marriott to launch wireless charging stations
This month Marriott Hotels will install wireless charging stations in hotel lobbies to solve the connected traveler’s worst nightmare – empty battery power at exactly the wrong time.
Portable charging stations developed by Kube Systems will be fitted in the lobbies of 29 properties this month.
The system uses global industry standard Qi technology for wireless charging.
Marriot says the idea comes from customer feedback posted on its TravelBrilliantly.com customer platform.
"Marriott Hotels is on a journey with our guests to create and rollout traveler-inspired innovations, such as portable charging stations, because you cannot travel brilliantly when you are running on empty," said Michael Dail, vice president of marketing for Marriott.
"Through our collaboration with Kube Systems, we’re providing an industry-leading solution to a common traveler worry, and now we’re bringing it to Marriott Hotels across the country."
According to a Marriott survey, US business travelers carry two to three mobile devices when on business trips.
The portable charger can charge up to six devices on the go and is compatible with all Android, Apple and Windows mobile devices.
