Thursday, 18 Jun, 2007 0

At the APEC Tourism Forum on 15 May 2007 the Minister for Small Business and Tourism, the Hon Fran Bailey MP, announced the development of the Australian Government’s first tourism specific pandemic planning tool – an interactive multimedia application to promote awareness of infectious respiratory diseases and understanding of infection control in the event of an influenza pandemic.

The application – “Prepared and Protected – Special Edition for Australia ‘s Accommodation Sector”, has been developed specifically to help the accommodation sector prepare their operation for a potential pandemic but is also applicable to the broader tourism industry.

Designed to be used as a training tool for staff, the application includes instructional videos, interactive testing modules and resource documents.

The Australian Government Department of Industry, Tourism and Resources has advises that the application is now available online through the Department’s website at www.industry.gov.au/tourismpandemicplanning.

If you have any questions about the resource or the work of the Australian Government in this area please contact Ms Kris Benn at [email protected].
