Nardi sentencing delayed – charges dropped against wife
Riccardo Nardi will not know his fate until mid March after his sentencing was delayed at Middlesex Guildhall Crown Court.
The former ABTA legal chief must wait until March 16 following a delay in the production of pre-sentence reports.
But his wife Samantha, accused of helping her husband swindle money from ABTA, walked free from court after the Crown Prosecution Service dropped all charges against her.
Michael Hick, prosecuting, told the court that no public interest would be served in pursuing the case against the mother-of-three.
“All parties, including the victims, do not wish to see her go to prison,” Mr Hick said.
She faced eight counts of assisting another to retain the benefit of criminal conduct.
A statement issued by her solicitor Stephen Smith, from Peters and Peters Solicitors, said Mrs Nardi was “delighted”.
“Her world has fallen apart since first learning about these allegations and she now wishes to concentrate on rebuilding her life with her three children,” the statement said.
“From the outset, Samantha has maintained that she knew nothing about and was not involved in the theft of, or laundering of, monies from ABTA.”
Mr Nardi has admitted 24 counts of fraud totalling almost £1 million.
