National emergency declared after major forest fire
A mass evacuation of thousands of people is being planned after a major forest fire broke out in central Sweden.
The blaze, which covers between 5,000 and 10,000 hectares close to the town of Norberg in Vastmanland county, has been declared a national emergency.
Helicopters are being used to pluck people trapped by the flames to safety. The 4,500 residents in the town of Norberg may have to be evacuated.
The Foreign Office warned tourists to be vigilant and pay attention to local advice.
