New job survey to assess travel industry happiness

Thursday, 15 May, 2016 0
Happiness levels in travel jobs will be measured in the first ever global, industry-wide survey, launching this week.

The Happiness Index, by recruitment agency Progressive Personnel, will give the industry valuable insight into whether travel company workers enjoy their jobs, if they feel they are being paid enough, whether they feel respected and valued in their job, their work/life balance and future prospects.

"The results will be used to identify how happy and valued we all are within the travel sector," said Progressive Personnel international director Fiona Morrison.

The survey will be distributed to a global audience of more than 1.4 million people who work in travel at all levels.

Participants will be entered into a draw to win one of four mini iPads and a fifth mini iPad will be up for grabs for participants who also share the survey.

Results will be filtered according to country and region, as well as gender, in order to give a comprehensive overview and spot any trends.

General manager James Roberts (pictured), explained: "The results will be completely anonymous so it will provide an independent and confidential platform for employees to share their opinions confidentially.

"We believe the survey will reveal certain areas that travel employers need to address in the workplace, e.g. remuneration, resources, training, workload, etc. that will improve working conditions for travel industry workers and boost retention in the travel industry.

"We also hope to identify where travel employees are happiest and what the contributing factors are for this happiness. A happy workforce is a more productive workforce. Employers could for instance use the survey results to assess where the talent pool is most content when weighing up where to open a new office or grow the business."

The results will be published by TravelMole in early June. Anyone in the industry who would like to take part in the survey can click here.
