One person hospitalized at Denver after United plane collision
Passengers on a United Airlines flight readying for takeoff had to be deplaned and an airport worker was taken to hospital after a tarmac collision.
A United Airlines Boeing 737-800 was preparing to depart Denver for Nashville when it struck a de-icing truck.
The 122 passengers and six crewmembers were deplaned and taken back to the terminal.
The truck’s driver was rushed to hospital, local media reported.
The driver’s current condition is unknown.
“A de-icing truck made contact with a United aircraft in Denver, leading to an employee of the de-icing contractor being transported to the hospital. Customers deplaned via air stairs and were bused to the terminal,” United said in a statement.
A replacement plane was organized for the passengers.
It is unclear what damage was caused to the aircraft.
The airport said the Federal Aviation Administration is investigating the incident.
The collision took place at a part of the airport which isn’t overseen by air traffic control.
It was snowing heavily at Denver International Airport at the time of the collision.
