New manager and industry award for Mar Menor Golf Resort & Spa
One of the first duties awaiting the new General Manager of the InterContinental Mar Menor Golf Resort & Spa in Murcia, Spain, was to accept two prestigious industry awards.
New man Giuseppe Vincelli, who only took up his appointment in March, flew to London to join other top hoteliers and employees of the InterContinental Hotel Group who gathered at the Royal Ascot racecourse to celebrate the Group’s success at the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) Awards. A total of 106 winners from the InterContinental Hotel Group’s 651 properties from across the EMEA region.
The InterContinental Mar Menor took titles in two of the top categories – The 2007 Newcomer Award and a Quality Excellence Award. The Newcomer title was given to the best hotels who joined the Group between June 2006 and September 2007 and recognises their commitment to quality and being brand ambassadors.
For Italian born Giuseppe Vincelli the Mar Menor appointment is not just a new job – it’s an introduction to a totally new country. This is the first time the 38-year old hotelier has worked in Spain.
Euro Disney places Phillippe Gas as president
Philippe Gas has been nominated to the position of Président of Euro Disney S.A.S., the operator of Disneyland® Resort Paris, according to an announcement made by Euro Disney S.C.A.
Philippe will take over the responsibilities of Karl Holz who has been appointed President, New Vacation Operations, Walt Disney Parks and Resorts. James A. Rasulo, Chairman, Walt Disney Parks and Resorts said: “ Philippe’s 17 years of Disney experience, more than half of which was spent at Disneyland Resort Paris, along with his expertise in human resources ideally prepares him to lead Euro Disney’s team of 12,300 cast members.
Together with the strong international management team, Philippe is committed to the Company’s long-term strategy and to its continued growth as Europe’s number 1 tourist destinationâ€.
Philippe’s appointment will be effective on September 1, 2008. Philippe Gas, 44 and a 17-year Disney veteran, has extensive experience with both Euro Disney and Walt Disney Parks & Resorts worldwide.
