Police investigate poolside explosion at Tenerife hotel
An investigation is taking place after a British holidaymaker and her eight-year-old daughter were injured in an explosion at a hotel in Tenerife.
The incident happened by the pool at the Bahia Principe in Playa Paraiso, when a metal buffet container, which uses a flammable gel to keep food warm, exploded.
The woman was taken to hospital with severe burns to her face and scalp and her daughter suffered less serious neck burns.
A hotel spokeswoman said they remain in hospital today, (Monday). She said the hotel was currently preparing a press statement and it will be issued later this morning.
Two other guests, a 38-year-old Belgian woman and a 34-year-old Spaniard, were also treated for minor burns in hospital.
Judicial police are investigating the incident, which happened on Friday.
